Transforming lives on four continents

Who does the teaching at IMC?

Here are the IMC staff:

Mat Wilson is the IMC Team Leader with the responsibility to bring vision and direction to the development of training and guiding pastoral support for everyone who serves with BMS World Mission. As well as this, Mat teaches courses on theology, mission thinking and development.

Prior to being at IMC, Mat spent six years with BMS in Tirana, Albania, establishing a church through equipping local leadership, supporting community projects such as prison ministry and mission through sport with a special focus on football.

Mat is married to Hannah and they have three children, Ben, Katie and Rebekah. Mat is a lifelong Aston Villa supporter and his favourite food is curry, which makes Birmingham a perfect place to live.

Arthur Magahy joined IMC in August 2009 having previously served with BMS World Mission in Guinea (training pastors with the L'Eglise Protestante Evangelique de Guinee) and Uganda (teaching at Kampala Evangelical School of Theology). Arthur teaches Paul, including Romans, Jesus and ethics, Jonah, and spiritual warfare. Arthur and Nicky have two children (Hannah and Esther). Prior to joining BMS, Arthur served as pastor of Bovingdon Baptist Church. Arthur is proud of his Northern Irish roots, is a keen sports fan, and can still sing his old school song (in Latin).

Nicky Magahy joined IMC in August 2009 having previously served with BMS World Mission in Uganda (teaching at Kampala Evangelical School of Theology) and in Guinea, where she juggled home schooling with teaching at L'Institut Biblique de Telekoro. Nicky teaches spirituality, Psalms, understanding mission, and Islam. Nicky is also responsible for organising practical placements for Mission Trainees on both the long-term and mid-term programmes. Nicky studied theology at London Bible College and was a primary school teacher before joining BMS. Nicky loves to be surrounded by people, have a busy house, but be early to bed!

Phil Grasham joined IMC in September 2010 after two years as Director of Ministry at Ashburnham Place and, before that, 12 years with WEC International. Phil has lived and worked in Kenya, Burkina Faso and Mali, as well as teaching at a missionary training college in the Netherlands. He wrote a series of discipleship booklets specifically for short-term mission workers, which are now being used by several mission agencies worldwide. At IMC, he teaches communication skills, the gospels and intercultural studies. Phil is married to Marion and they have two children (Toby and Hope). He studied applied theology at Moorlands College and was a zoo keeper before getting involved in missions!
